Inferring in reading

This week in reading we were learning about inferring.
Inferring is when you guess what the author thought but didn’t say.
It’s important to infer so you can understand the text.
We learned how to infer by finding key words and making connections. We then applied our understanding to our book for this week which was about mascots in the first world war.

Sticky slime

We are learning how to do compound and complex sentences. We did this by looking at how to make cornflour goo and writing about it. Here is my writing below! Hope you enjoy!

Slime is something that can be sticky.Slime can be made out of Pva glue, borax and other ingredients.

Slime looks like a coloured blob.Slime can be multiple colours in one. Some slime glows in the dark.

Slime is the same as putty but stretchier, but putty is stickier. Slime is sticky and really stretchy.

You can make slime with conditioner and cornflour. If you make slime when your not playing with it or using it, you should put it in the fridge. If you make slime, it won't last forever. Slime does not last forever.

Predicting with the pet day problem

This week we looked at a story called the pet day problem, and learned how to make good predictions. We learned that the clues in the story like the title the pictures and the names of chapters can help us make quick predictions. I thought the problem in this book would be that the boy had too many pets to choose from, but actually it was that he didn't have any pets at all. He made a worm farm as a pet and he won a prize for most useful pet and the pet day.
